Alan Wake 2 got a New Game Plus mode on December 11, which allows players who have completed the game to go on a second playthrough with all of their endgame weapons and upgrades. But unlike most versions of New Game Plus, in Alan Wake 2 you will also get an alternate story on that second playthrough, which is called The Final Draft. Another strong W for Remedy.
When Alan Wake 2 launched, it didn't have a New Game Plus mode, instead Remedy are going to add the mode in a post-launch update. But don't worry, you don't have to wait too long: The devs have revealed, that New Game Plus will come to Alan Wake 2 on December 11. And it sounds like a must-play for any fan of the game.
The date was announced by director Kyle Rowley on stage during The Game Awards, while him and co-director Sam Lake accepted the award for Best Game Direction. How baller is that?!
The Final Draft: Alan Wake 2's New Game Plus Features Explained
We spoke to the devs pre-launch, and they already gave us some amazing info on the mode back then: Alan Wake 2's New Game Plus, called The Final Draft, is giving us more than just a second playthrough with endgame weapons, it will also unlock alternative narratives and a new difficulty level!
The Final Draft is now finally out. If you complete Alan Wake 2 and choose to start New Game Plus, you will unlock the following for your second playthrough:
- Playing through the game in this mode will unlock a new ending.
- You will keep all unlocked weapons, Charms and Words of Power upgrades that you acquired on your first playthrough.
- A new Nightmare difficulty will be available for you to try (and likely fail).
- During your New Game Plus playthrough you will experience an alternative narrative, including six new Manuscript pages and new videos.

You can read more about the New Game Plus here. The devs at Remedy also told us to expect a "few other surprises" with New Game Plus.
New Game Plus isn't the only free addition being added to the game post-launch. We've also been told to expect a Photo Mode, which makes perfect sense given the game includes stunning environments all over the shop. It would be awesome to see a photo mode as extensive as Jedi Survivor's, but anything will do.
