Blue Eye Samurai Director Has Plans For Mizu In A Possible Season 2
Director Jane Wu sat down with Variety and shared some insights about the first season, but also about how the story might continue. Back when the interview took place, season 2 hasn't been confirmed yet, and still Wu came across as pretty optimistic – did she already know back then, I wonder?
And, let's be honest: the end of season 1 perfectly set up a continuation. There is a whole other country to explore as Mizu sets sail for London and her life goal of vengeance hasn't been achieved just yet. To top it all off, London might be the place where she finally finds out who her father is. In short: season 2 has more than enough threads to follow.
Wu herself seems excited to "just go down that rabbit hole" that is London and everything that means for Mizu – how she'll be accepted there, how she'll handle the whole heritage question and how she'll deal with everything that's happened. How exactly that'll go down is still written in the stars, though:
Story-wise, I can't clearly say what we're expecting in Season 2, because I don't have the script in hand. But I do think we will probably explore London – and how much of London is really depending on the budget and the schedule."
That does sound pretty hopeful and apparently paid off. Mizu herself has a lot of growth ahead of her that makes Wu excited for what's to come:
That end shot, we had to redesign her a little bit to show that her character has morphed and has changed and has grown, and she's finally taken off that scarf. Does that mean she's willing to accept her female side? I don't know. That's definitely what I'm looking forward to - is Mizu's growth."
How that growth will play out is something we can officially anticipate now. We'll keep you updated on Blue Eye Samurai season 2, so make sure to come visit from time to time!
