Hwei is the newest Champion in League of Legends and has recently been released with the Winterblessed Event. Now it's safe to say that as a Mage with 10 different spells he is hard to play, but already one day after release Reddit is calling for a rework. What's up with that?
Hwei got released in LoL Patch 13.24 to pretty positive reception. His kit features a wide variety of different abilities that you can combo up to great effect. It's easy to say that Hwei is one of the hardest champions that Riot has ever released. After all, he has 10 abilities, and you need to choose which ones you want to use for each situation. Now, Reddit isn't too happy with the champion. But why?
Hwei, People Want Him Reworked
Reddit user u/ShirtlessTurtle made a post right after the champion released, stating that “Hwei is in dire need of a rework”. Now after reading through the post you can see it's a meme post, but there is some truth to it.
Hwei is in dire need of a rework.

As ShirtlessTurtle said, Hwei's Destruction and Torment Subject share the same skill-tech. The Q abilities are projectile skill shots. The W abilities are circle AoE's and the E abilities are rectangles. This gives Hwei a lot of uniformity and helps players get more confident and better with his combos.
The problem is his Serenity Subject. For some reason, that Q ability is a rectangle. His W is a nice circle, which is good and absolutely needed, but his E is a projectile buff. Riot why? Is the champ not going to be hard enough already? Do they seriously expect us to learn what abilities actually do??
No Hwei! (I swear this sounded funny in my head.) Hwei is literally unplayable, and I too agree that this needs to be fixed.
Okay, let's get serious. This isn't a big issue, but as some commenters agreed, it made Hwei a bit more frustrating to play. A lot of players find patterns and use them to make learning and playing easier, and this just disrupts the game flow a bit.
But there has also been a counterargument. Reddit User u/Losupa has compared each spell to an ability of another champion and came to the conclusion that the abilities are not only the same, they also are on the same button.

This does help in understanding Hwei's kit, but it will probably still take lots of dedication to learn this champion's in and outs. Maybe this post helped you understand him a bit more. If you are trying to learn Hwei, best of luck to you (please don't pick him in my ranked games).
