League of Legends has been around for quite some time now and can be run on pretty much any potato PC, but it seems that there are some bigger plans for the future of LoL and players are speculating whether League of Legends 2 is in the works.
In the most recent dev blog, Riot announced that some older operating systems will not support League of Legends anymore starting in 2024. This means players currently using Windows 7 or 8 won't be able to play LoL anymore.
Pair this with a mysterious tweet from Pu "Pupulasers" Liu, Game Director for League of Legends, and the community is huffing and puffing some serious copium believing that League of Legends 2 is in the works and could be coming sooner than you might think.
League of Legends: Some Players Believe An Upgrade Is Coming
8. We need to build our game's roadmap priorities around what players will FEEL. Logic is secondary to visceral emotions.

9. Players want to feel seen and heard. Rioters want to feel valued and respected.
10. 2024 will have something for everyone. 2025 will change League forever.
League of Legends has been operating on some pretty insane spaghetti code the last few years, and the client has been especially buggy. Each and every time there is a Clash tournament something breaks, the release of a new champion also causes havoc on the rift, which has players frustrated with the quality.
While the League of Legends client isn't perfect, it is easy to run and therefore, allows players even with older PCs or those on the lower end of the spectrum to run the game. But in 2024 there are some changes coming which will mean that certain players can't play the game anymore.
Riot is going to change the system requirements for the game, meaning you'll need Windows 10 or 11 to run League of Legends starting in 2024.
Recently, Riot Pupulasers, also sent out a mysterious tweet in which he explained some of the things he's learned and what he believes the direction of League should go in. One of the main points in the Tweet was that Riot should "chase legendary dreams rather than perfect what we know" and that "2024 will have something for everyone. 2025 will change League forever."
This has players thinking that Riot is going to be making some more changes in 2025 and that one of those could be a brand-new client. While it is highly unlikely that an official League of Legends 2 is going to be released – we saw how well that went for Overwatch 2 – but that a new engine could be in the works that will improve the LoL experience drastically.
Of course, all of this is just speculation, but Riot have been improving the overall client so it is likely that the League of Legends client is also going to finally receive an overhaul so that Clash doesn't break it completely. But we will have to wait until late 2024 to find out more...
