LoL Patch 13.15: More Soul Fighter Skins & Arena Mode Changes

LoL Patch 13.15 is out and it's looking to be quite an interesting patch with a whole lot of additions to the Soul Fighter event, Arena balance changes, and even some adjustments to Summoner's Rift (since people still play ranked, apparently).

League of Legends continues to evolve in LoL Patch 13.15, with Riot looking to make key balance changes, as well as add in some more adjustments to the brand-new game mode Arena, which has taken the world by storm and made LoL unique and fun again.

Patch 13.14 has already kicked off the big summer event and this League of Legends patch will also be continuing the celebration with a whole new cast of champions and skins. But enough fluff, time to jump into the buffs and nerfs of Patch 13.15.

LoL Patch 13.15: Balance Changes

There are three systems that Riot is nerfing this patch. The synergy between Statikk Shiv and Night Harvester, especially on champions like LeBlanc has been way too good and so the balance team is making some updates.

In a previous tweet from Riot Phroxzon he explained that the team is thinking of "changing the Shiv and Night Harvester synergy to require ability hit, like other item spell effects".

Night Harvester

  • Soulrend Activation Condition: Damaging an enemy champion ⇒ Damaging an enemy champion with an attack, ability, or pet damage (Note: items will no longer proc Night Harvester)

Glacial Augment

  • Icy Zone Slow: 30% (+3% per 100 AP) (+4% per 100 bonus AD) (+9% per 10% heal and shield power) ⇒ 20% (+6% per 100 AP) (+7% per 100 bonus AD) (+9% per 10% heal and shield power)

Smite

  • Damage to Non-Lane Minions: 600/900/1200 ⇒ 20-160 (based on level) (Note: Damage to jungle monsters and lane minions is unchanged, this should only affect minions spawned by another champion.)
  • [NEW] 20% slow for 2 seconds: Unlocked on first upgrade to Unleashed Smite ⇒ Unlocked on second upgrade to Primal Smite

Not only is Statikk Shiv going to be seeing the nerf hammer, but Phroxzon also revealed that Kai'Sa, who has been the most dominant bot laner in the game is also going to see some major nerfs. Her AP build specificallyis being targeted this patch.

She isn't the only champion receiving nerfs though. There are quite a lot of other champion Riot is also looking into updating this time around, as we are nearing the 2023 League of Legends World Championship.

With Kai'Sa getting nerfed this patch, though that doesn't feel like a real nerf if we're honest, there are some other bot lane champions that will be getting some love. Oh, and just in time for Worlds, Gwen is also receiving some buffs so she can be perma-picked once more.

LoL Patch 13.15: Further Enhancements for Arena Mode

New Arena Mode Cameos

Riot have added new cameos into the League of Legends arena mode, with the new Soul Fighter champions getting their chance to spice things up in the Arena.

  • Evelynn: Grants all players camouflage.
  • Gwen: Occasionally protects the lowest health player with her W, Hallowed Mist.
  • Jhin: Casts his ultimate, Curtain Call, which will alternate shots between each player.
  • Shaco: Continuously places his Jack-in-the-Boxes around the Arena.
  • Viego: The first player to die will instead become Viego for a period of time.

LoL Arena Quality of Life Updates

There are also a few quality of life changes that Riot have made to the game, which should make the matches a bit better, as well as the general UI of the game mode as well, which was bugged a few times, especially early on upon release.

  • The Ring of Fire will now apply increasing amounts of Grievous Wounds
  • Player Frame Augment Panel has been added as an additional stats panel in the UI
  • The item shop has been reordered to go from Starter, to Epic, to Mythic, and finally to Legendary.
