Riot made quite a few changes to the game recently, adding new items, and changing the whole mythic item system. Now in the LoL Preseason 2024, mythics are going to be completely removed. But will one of the new fan-favorite items also be taken out of the game completely?
League of Legends is an ever evolving game, with consistent updates, as well as regular new seasons that shake up the way players engage with the game. This year, Riot has some pretty big plans for the LoL Preseason 2024, by removing mythic items completely.
There are some other changes to the map that are planned for Summoner's Rift, but Riot has not specified what they are. With the known changes coming to items though, some players are worried that one of the newest items of the game will also be removed along with mythics.
LoL Preseason 2024: Will One Of The Newest Items Be Removed?
The 2024 League of Legends Preseason is just around the corner. What can we expect from it this year? Well, one thing that is for sure is that Riot will be making some major changes to the League of Legends mythic item system by removing it completely.
During the mid-season update, the balance team already hinted at a big change, stating that if the changes from the mid-season update doesn't work out how they want, they will scrap the newly introduced mechanic. This has made some players worried about a couple of items, though.
ADC players were already quaking in their boots, with the thought of Galeforce getting removed, and now another new item is also being considered by the community. The Statikk Shiv has received multiple nerfs ever since it was re-introduced to the game in LoL Patch 13.10 and that has many believing that the item is also going to get axed once the Preseason hits the PBE server.
Some players compared the old Statikk Shiv to the new iteration and found that while the damage of the lightning is higher, the lightning used to be able to crit, something which was removed since it was way too broken, which in turn made the item completely useless.

The item currently also gives players 50 AD, something it didn't before, so even without the crit from lightning it'll still be more valuable. It's also able to delete waves much easier thanks to higher damage. Previously, players had to build multiple crit items for Statikk to delete waves.
Overall, it seems like Riot is trying their best to balance Statikk Shiv, but the community is not very hopeful that the item will remain in the game for much longer.
