Riot usually has something big planned for the Lunar New Year celebration. This year, with it being the year of the dragon, we can expect a huge event, maybe even a new champion and most players are also dreading the return of mythic variants in 2024.
Through data miners, a couple of grab bags have already been revealed for the start of 2024. Season 14 is going to kick off on January 9 with LoL Patch 14.1, and just a month later the Lunar New Year will receive an in-game event. While this isn't confirmed, it is likely, since Riot does do a Lunar New Year event every single season.
This year, is the year of the dragon, and fans already have some theories of what Riot could be adding into the game. One of which they are not too happy about – a new mythic variant.

Similar to the 2023 LoL Worlds event, we might have a Capsule event run alongside it. Data miners have found loot assets for a dragon-like Event Capsule, as well as two different types of dragon-like Grab Bags. These will likely be added for an in-game Lunar New Year Event – since it is the year of the Dragon – and a capsule event.
Data miners like SkinSpotlights and Julex_Gameplays have also previously noted that there seems to be a "missing skin" from Ezreal when looking at the data in the game. At first, there were some theories of him getting a special HEARTSTEEL skin or chroma, but it seems that it's more likely to be a mythic variant for his legendary Porcelain Protector skin.
This could mean that for the Lunar New Year we will be getting another capsule event, wherein players are able to purchase capsules in the hopes of receiving this rare mythic variant – or spend around $200 to receive the guaranteed drop... we know how it is with gacha games, eh?
Hopefully the mythic variant will at least looks different and not just be a glorified chroma, adding in some new effects which will match the year of the dragon, since the Porcelain Protector Ezreal skin was released in 2022 with the year of the Tiger.
