Support Tier List For LoL Patch 14.4: These Are The Best Supports
3. Janna
Janna is an extremely powerful champ and stays in our Top 3 as the best enchanter in the current meta. She got a solid win rate of 51.0%.
Build:
Your build should be Imperial Mandate into Shurelya's Battlesong first. This is a more aggressive approach, and therefore you should also go for W max instead of E, as well as Zaz'Zack's Realmspike as your support item upgrade.
Powerspikes:
Janna truly shines in the mid and late game. With lots of disengage tools, as well as huge shields and heals, she can carry any teamfight, even if she is "only" a supp.
However, this doesn't mean that her laning phase is garbage. She still can find a way to bully her lane opponents if she can get close to them with her W.
Counters:
Zyra is her worst match up. She easily out ranges Janna, making her R and Q kinda useless, since she doesn't need to get close to her. Other counters are Blitzcrank or Rakan. Once she gets caught by them, Janna fizzles out.
Good Synergy:
Janna works well with Twisted Fate, Sivir and Draven. She can make sure to let Draven hit his opponents even harder with his axes by shielding him and granting him bonus AD. With Sivir, you got a chill laning phase till mid-game. TF is a newcomer in the bot lane and truly shines with supps that can peel him, but also protect him. Janna gives him both of two worlds.
2. Brand
Brand rose up from A- to S-Tier this time! With a whooping 53.6% win rate, he not only burns the world, but also the whole bot lane down.
Build:
With Brand, you want to go Liandry's Torment into Rylai's Crystal Scepter. These two baddies will give your opponents a hard time escaping from you with some slows, but also synergizes amazing with your passive.
Next, you can build Zhonya's Hourglass, the new item Cryptbloom or Rabadon's Deathcap. Don't forget about Oblivion Orb early on, though, if you need some antiheal!
Powerspikes:
Brand is the best at two items and therefore a good champ in the mid-game. With Rylai's and Liandry's, it's really rough to deal against him, since he not only applies slows, but also deals lots of percentage max health damage.
Counters:
Brand is bad against Zac, Maokai and other hard engage supps. He got no mobility and is an easy target for these kinds of champs.
Good Synergy:
Brand works great with Ashe and Jhin. Ashe can slow your opponents down, which gives you the chance to land your spells. Similar to Ashe, Jhin also peels you with his W, E or R.
A good Xayah works, too, as long as she can hit a root with her feathers.
1. Maokai
As we got the new tank item for supps Trailblazer, which is similar to Dead Man's Plate, tank supports like Maokai dominate the bot lane. Despite getting nerfed twice in a row, he remains the most OP pick with an incredible win rate of 53.7%. Let's see how often Riot needs to hit him with the nerf hammer!
Build:
As Maokai, you want to build Trailblazer first. Then, you go for Locket of the Iron Solari.
Next, you can go for Thornmail, Abyssal Mask, Knight's Vow or Zeke's Convergence, depending on the situation.
Powerspikes:
With Maokai, you can just massively bully your lane opponents, as his early game is just nuts currently. Mid to late game, Maokai can shine with his Ultimate Ability, catching enemies off guard. However, later on he will definitely struggle to survive engages with his W.
Counters:
Maokai struggles a lot against Heimerdinger, since Heimerdinger actually wants you to engage and stand in his turret range. A good Morgana can also give you a hard time, denying your W or R with her black shield if timed correctly.
Good Synergy:
Maokai synergizes really well with aggressive ADC's like Tristana or Draven, as well as hyper carries who need some peel like Twitch.
Support Tier List For LoL Patch 14.4
Now that we have looked at the S-Tier of LoL Patch 14.4, it's about time that we check out where some of your other favorite champions are. Which of these picks is your main?
Who Are Our A-Tier Support Champions?
The A-Tier is still considered excellent. These are champions that you can easily pick and still win games. They're the ones you'll want to choose when the S Tier champions are banned. So if you want to climb solo queue, then these are some picks you'll want to pick up this patch.
Champion | Win Rate | Pick Rate |
Zac | 53.4% | 0.8% |
Zyra | 52.2% | 7.9% |
Blitzcrank | 51.3% | 7.8% |
Taric | 51.1% | 1.0% |
Senna | 49.1% | 10.6% |
Teemo | 53.5% | 1.1% |
Leona | 51.3% | 7.1% |
Bard | 48.4% | 2.5% |
Soraka | 50.2% | 4.9% |
Braum | 50.8% | 2.4% |
Renata Glasc | 49.5% | 1.4% |
Rakan | 49.9% | 4.0% |
We got tons of hard engage champs in the A-tier, dominating the lane. Next to these champs, we also got some AP mages with hard CC and tons of damage, such as Zyra, Zoe and Brand.
Senna is also a great pick, but pay attention to your composition in matchmaking. She only works great with APC's like Seraphine.
Bard is also a solid pick with high damage output on his passive. Make sure to play him before he gets another nerf.
Who Are Our B-Tier Support Champions?
The B-Tier consists of champions that are good, but won't have as much strength as either the A- or S-Tier — obviously. These are picks you can choose in specific match ups, but we suggest making sure you master the champion before choosing them.
Champion | Win Rate | Pick Rate |
Morgana | 51.1% | 8.2% |
Camille | 51.0% | 0.7% |
Shaco | 52.3% | 2.5% |
Thresh | 49.0% | 9.3% |
Zilean | 51.7% | 1.5% |
Sona | 50.2% | 1.9% |
Nami | 49.6% | 4.0% |
Vel'Koz | 50.8% | 2.4% |
Xerath | 50.7% | 2.4% |
Lux | 49.5% | 13.1% |
Milio | 49.8% | 4.2% |
Karma | 48.8% | 7.7% |
Heimerdinger | 50.2% | 0.7% |
Poppy | 53.7% | 0.4% |
Annie | 49.5% | 0.3% |
Rell | 50.2% | 2.2% |
Pyke | 49.4% | 6.5% |
With engage tanks getting stronger, enchanters will have a harder time in the lane. However, these champs are still great choices and are especially very useful later on in the game with tons of protection and useful tools for your team.
Morgana is also a great champ, who is a natural counterpick for lots of engage supps. Or is she?
Camille is a newcomer in our support tier list, but really deserved her spot. With Hail of Blades in her pocket and easy engages with her E, she can be an incredible pick to snowball in the early-game.
Poke supports like Lux or Xerath are also great choices, since they can make their job from a safe distance.
Who Are Our F-Tier Support Champions?
These are the picks we advise you to forget about this patch. Either their win rates are abysmal or they were nerfed in the patch. So make sure to avoid picking these champions at all costs.
Champion | Win Rate | Pick Rate |
Anivia | 46.2% | 0.3% |
Zoe | 45.9% | 0.2% |
Veigar | 46.3% | 0.5% |
Hwei | 46.6% | 2.9% |
Nunu | 35.4% | 0.1% |
Miss Fortune | 43.7% | 0.4% |
Malphite | 44.3% | 0.4% |
Sejuani | 47.2% | 0.1% |
Cho'Gath | 45.6% | 0.1% |
I mean, I can't believe it either, but some people seriously pick these champions as support. What the hell is going on. Nunu supp? For real?
Make sure to never be that cruel to your ADC to pick one of these, and you'll climb.
These are the best support champions in LoL Patch 14.4. What do you think? Did we place your fave champion too low… or maybe even too high?
